Paris
Just steps away from the legendary La Pagode cinema lies the pied-à-terre of a London-based collector. Sandra Benhamou has infused this quintessentially Parisian apartment with a contemporary spirit—by completely restructuring the space and tracing elegant iroko wood contours, like pulling a thread through fabric.
She skillfully blends stone and metal, both in the bathroom and the kitchen, where stainless steel takes the lead. A bold touch of sky-blue marble sets the tone in the small entrance hall, sparking surprise from the very first step. The project began with the choice of a Gaetano Pesce chair—a tribute to the recently departed design icon.
The interior is a daring mix of classical pieces, contemporary artworks, and 1980s furniture. Paintings by Gideon Rubin and Nathanaëlle Herbelin (Karsten Greve), a photograph by John Chamberlain, and a book sculpture by Georgia Russell (Karsten Greve); a striking vintage wooden sideboard (Morentz); a pair of upholstered stools by Josef Hoffmann; a vase by Barbara Kruger (Romain Morandi); a Culbuto armchair by Marc Held (Aurélien Serre)…
And finally, pieces designed by Sandra Benhamou herself: the Pierre lamp in combed plaster and wool fabric, the Kaki table in rosewood and brass and the Dolly stool.
